Sponsored by the 11th Grade Students

Special thanks to August LAS church cleaners Evelyn Sellers, Rosetta McLaren, Cynthia Massicotte, Sandra Savant, and Kathy Aucoin.
September LAS church cleaners are Artie Mae Tabor and Betty Vicknair.

Thanks to Buck Tabor for constructing and donating the bookstand and bookshelf in church.

Eucharistic Ministers
The September 11th and October 30th Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Workshops are at maximum capacity for attendance. For all Extraordinary Ministers who have not yet attended a workshop, Saturday, December 4th at St. Luke’s in Thibodaux is the last workshop. Also, please note that no one will be allowed to walk-in without being previously registered.

Spanish Mass
On September 5th, we will begin our first Mass in Spanish at St. Andrew’s. This comes from a great need for the large Hispanic community in Amelia that does not have transportation or cannot get to Mass in Morgan City. It is important to understand that we are not separating the Amelia community from the community in Morgan City. Our only purpose is to provide a service for those people who want to attend the Holy Mass. Spanish Mass will be celebrated on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the month at 12:30pm. Please pray with us for the success of this new endeavor.

2nd Collection Next Weekend
As the national university of the Catholic Church in the US located in Washington, D.C, it provides an academically rigorous education guided by Catholic intellectual tradition to 6,000 students every year. Every dollar given directly supports financial aid for students from diocese across the country, including ours. Please be generous.
Is God calling you?
We are in need of commentators and lectors, particularly for the 5:00 p.m. & 7:30 a.m. masses. Contact Sheri in the parish office if you are interested in becoming a lector, commentator, minister, usher, or altar server or if you would like to receive a box of contribution envelopes.
St. Andrew’s CCD program is in need of a few more substitute teachers for the 2010 – 2011 school year. Please contact the parish office if interested.

PRAYER FOR HURRICANE SEASON

O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its calmness. You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control – the Gulf of Mexico. Like a provoked and angry giant, it can awake from its seeming lack of energy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster.

During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies, whose memories are still so vivid, and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time.

O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf, so that, spared from the calamities common to this area, and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem, where a storm-less eternity awaits us. Amen.

If you have family members who are ill and wish to be visited by our pastor or a family member who would like to be added to our homebound visitation list, please contact the parish office or Father Toto.
